8 questions to ask before you buy a trading evaluation
For Black Friday, many evaluation firms give big discounts. A discount changes the price, not the rules. Here's what to look for in the terms before you pay, at any firm, us included, and what we answer. Aegis Traders hasn't launched yet: the answers come from our Terms of use, version 2026-11.12, and if the Terms change before launch, we publish a new version of this article.
1. Can the rules change after you pay?
Check whether the terms say new rules also apply to accounts already bought. If they do, the rules you buy under may not be the rules you trade under.
With us, the terms and each product's rules are versioned, and a published version never changes. We announce a new version of the terms by email and in your account at least 30 days ahead, except changes the law requires and ones that only benefit you. A new version doesn't change the price, the rules or the payout policy of an order already paid. Symbol specifications (commission, swap, platform markup) are versioned too: each trading account stays on the version it was created with.
In the Terms: “Changes to these terms”, “Where to find the exact values” and “The platform and the symbols”.
2. What ends your account on the spot?
Check which execution rules end the account and whether you get a warning first. Look, for example, for rules that require a stop loss on every position within a set time, limit a trade's size against your usual ones, or forbid opposite positions on the same symbol.
With us, while you trade, the account stops automatically only when equity (the balance plus the profit or loss of open positions) crosses the daily or the maximum loss limit. It then stops on the spot, with no warning, and open positions are closed. We don't require a stop loss, we have no lot size rule, and you can hold opposite positions on the same symbol, each with its own margin. An order without enough free margin is refused, and if the margin level falls under 50%, the platform closes the most losing positions one by one. The profit of a position held under 60 seconds doesn't count towards a phase's target, and an account can send at most 30 orders a minute.
The practices the terms forbid still apply, such as exploiting price errors or trading in opposite directions across several accounts. For those we may refuse a phase pass or a payout and stop the account, even without a warning first, but we tell you the reason, show you the evidence, and you can appeal. If we prove after payment that a reward was obtained through a forbidden practice, we may ask for that part back. An account with no trade for 30 days goes inactive and closes for good, and the simulated profit is lost; an open position alone doesn't keep the account active. We email you 7 days before.
In the Terms: “What happens on a breach”, “Hedging, margin and stop-out”, “Rules against exploitation”, “What you must not do” and “Inactive accounts and deadlines”. Asking for a reward back is in the rewards account contract, under “Prohibited practices”.
3. Can you trade the news?
Check whether there are windows around major releases in which you can't open or close positions.
With us, there's no news restriction, on any account. If we ever added one, it would only apply to accounts bought after we publish it. Prices move fast on the news: an order on a price older than 2 seconds is refused, a stop loss can fill worse than its level, and the loss limits stay the same. Latency arbitrage and exploiting price errors stay forbidden.
In the Terms: “Rules against exploitation”, “Prices and execution” and “What you must not do”.
4. Can you hold positions overnight and over the weekend?
Check whether positions must be closed every evening, and what happens to one left open overnight or over the weekend.
With us, you can hold positions overnight and over the weekend. Overnight, swap is paid or earned, as the symbol's specification says; on Wednesday it's charged triple, for the weekend, and on crypto it's charged daily. While the market is closed you can't close the position and the stop loss waits for the open: when the market reopens, the price can jump past it and take the account over a loss limit. Crypto trades at the weekend too.
In the Terms: “Trading hours and the weekend” and “Costs”.
5. Is there a consistency rule?
At some firms, one very good day can block your payout request until the other days dilute it.
With us, there isn't one. Instead, payouts come in public levels: 4% of the capital on the first request, 7% on the second and 9% on each one after. After each approved payout you move to the next level, even if you didn't reach the level. What goes over the level isn't paid and doesn't carry over. Most people don't pass the evaluation.
In the Terms: “How the amount is worked out” and “What happens to the account after a payout”.
6. Do you get the reason for a decision, and can you appeal to a person?
Check whether the terms allow a payout to be refused at the firm's discretion, and whether you get the reason and the evidence.
With us, a breach has a record that can't be changed: the rule, the moment, the equity and the limit. You get the rule and the exact figures by email, and you see the record in your account. A rejected payout shows its reason in your account.
You can appeal within 7 days of the decision, once. A person reviews the appeal from scratch, with all the evidence, within 5 working days. That doesn't take away your right to go to the consumer authority (ANPC), to alternative dispute resolution or to court.
In the Terms: “What happens on a breach”, “Review and approval” and “Appealing a decision”.
7. How, when and how much is paid?
Look for three things in the terms: how you get the money, how long it takes, and how much each request can pay.
With us, a payout is a reward worked out from the simulated profit and paid from the firm's own money, by bank transfer: in lei, at the National Bank of Romania rate of the payment day, if you're resident in Romania, otherwise in USD. If the law requires us to withhold tax, we withhold it and pay the net amount, and your account shows the gross amount, the tax and the net amount. We charge no payout fee, though banks may deduct fees or convert the amount at their own rate. We decide within 5 working days of the request (if we ask you for information, the period runs from when we get it), and the payment usually leaves within 5 working days of approval.
Before your first payout we verify your identity, you accept the rewards account contract and you add an IBAN in your name, in a European country we support. You can request the first payout 30 days after the first trade on the rewards account or, on 2-Step and 1-Step, after 14 days if you bought the early first payout add-on. After that, at most once every 14 days, for at least USD 20, in the levels above. What goes over the level isn't paid and doesn't carry over. Most people don't pass the evaluation.
In the Terms: “Before your first payout”, “When you can request”, “Review and approval” and “Payment by bank transfer”.
8. Who is the firm, and which law applies?
Look for the firm's name, country, registration number and an address. Check the governing law and the chosen forum too: if the terms require arbitration or a court in another country, a complaint is harder to pursue.
Our service is provided by DIONIX SOFTWORKS S.R.L., registered office Bucharest, Sector 5, 9 Dr. Leonte Anastasievici St., room 2, 1st floor, apt. 2, postcode 050464, Trade Register no. J2024038563007, tax ID 50834541. You can reach us at [email protected] and on +40 756 524 214, by phone or WhatsApp. The contract is governed by Romanian law; if you live in another EU or EEA country, you also keep the protection of your country's mandatory rules. Our terms have no arbitration clause, and as a consumer you can also choose the court where you live.
In the Terms: “Who we are” and “Governing law and disputes”.
What holds wherever you buy
Most people who try don't pass the evaluation. The price of an evaluation is the cost of a service, not an investment: only buy with money you can afford to lose, and don't borrow for it. All our accounts are simulated: no order reaches a real market.
Educational material, not investment advice. Aegis Traders accounts are simulated, and past results guarantee nothing. The characters and animations are drawn with the help of AI.
